Description
Infinity BLURR V2
Performance Surf Shape inspired by the Infinity original favourite. This is a true performance board ridden by Kai Lenny featuring a classic shortboard style outline. This board rides fast and is perfect for charging big waves.
From Infinity:
Dave Boehne has brought back an original favourite in the BLURR performance surf SUP with the highly anticipated V2.
The BlurrV2 incorporates a new SUPspensionTECH carbon construction to promote flex and work in conjunction with the new step rail design. This board features a single concave, pulled in tail template w/ a wing pin tail taken from the New Deal. This board has lots of pivot off the bottom and seamless carve style ride under the feet.
The new step rail provides hidden volume in the centre of the board and takes thickness away from the rails allowing for a low aspect shortboard style rail in the water. This step also creates strength corrugation which we worked on a new SUPspension TECH construction to promote flex back into the ride.Because of its shortboard-style outline, moderate rocker and relatively narrow widths, the board wants to be ridden by someone who can handle less forgiving volume / stability in exchange for speed, agility and carving performance.
Tips for picking the “right” size
-
If you’re less experienced, go slightly up in volume/width to gain stability and make catch-waves easier.
-
If you’re very competent and want maximum performance, you can go with less volume / narrower width, understanding stability will be lower but maneuverability higher.
-
Consider the wave conditions you ride: smaller, sloppy surf = more volume helps; steep, hollow surf = less volume + shorter board = quicker reactive ride.
-
Check the width: narrower boards = faster edge to edge but demand more balance. The Blurr V2 widths range from ~24.5″ to ~32.5″.
-
Consider your transport/storage: longer boards (8′5″+) are bulkier to move and store.
-
Fit with your fin setup & paddle: A performance board like this will reward fine-tuning of fins and paddle length.
-
If you’re on the border between sizes, think: “Will I prefer more stability & easier paddling (go up) or more agility and performance (stay lower)?”
-
Lastly, as a high-performance shape, expect to work a bit harder for wave catch and balance compared to a more stable all-round SUP.
Sample Recommendation (for your scenario)
If you’re, say, 75 kg (≈165 lb), and you consider yourself an intermediate rider who paddles out consistently, catches medium waves (shoulder-high to head-high) and wants to carve and perform, I’d recommend the ~7′11″ × 27.5″ ~ 90L size.
If you plan to ride smaller / weaker waves more often, bump up to the 8′0″ × 28″ ~ 100L to make paddling and wave entry easier.
If you’re heavier (90 kg) and riding bigger surf, go for the 8′2″-8′5″ range (109-121L) to give yourself more volume and surface area.
